Maintenance Technician/HVAC

Department: Maintenance/Operations

Reports To: Director, Maintenance & Operations

Job Status : Non-exempt

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs high quality services, repairs and installations of HVAC equipment for the university.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and service repairs on campus heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Install and replace parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
  • Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Responds to maintenance service calls in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to customers.
  • Adhere to university and industry safety standards.
  • Must be proactive about continued learning and training.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification.
  • Registered as a HVAC Service Technician with the State of Texas.
  • N.A.T.E. Certified, or able to become N.A.T.E. Certified within one year of employment.
  • Five years facilities related experience.
  • Advanced maintenance knowledge.
  • Proven track record in heating and cooling systems including ability to draw simple diagrams, read blue prints, and other materials.
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow-through abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Enthusiastic, engaging attitude.
  • Customer service oriented, prompt, efficient, and committed to quality.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely drive a golf cart or similar vehicle.
  • Ability to work on call as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
